Modes to choose a Bible verse
- The most simple way to choose a Bible verse is to click on the number of the given verse in the upper information bar on the Bible panel.
In the pop up window, you can choose a book, a chapter and a verse, but with a long tap it opens up at the book or chapters first verse.
Choosing a Bible translation
- You can choose between downloaded Bible translations by clicking on the name of the current Bible translation in the top information bar. This allows you to set up parallel display of Bible translations.
- You can switch back and forth between the current and the previously set Bible translation by long-clicking on the name of the current Bible translation in the top information bar of the Bible panel.
How to change chapters:
- You can change chapters in the toolbar of the Bible panel by “Previous chapter” ( )and “Next chapter” ( ) buttons.
- Volume up and down buttons have a special meaning in this panel: going one chapter back and forth.
- You can change chapters by swiping the screen from one end to the other.
What is happening when clicking?
There are three switches to set what is happening when you click on the text. (relating to short click):
- If „Bubble help” mode is active: by clicking an analysis comes out in a small window. You can click on a word (if there is a Strong number behind it the analysis is Strong number analysis) /verse number/footnote/crossreference.
- If „Language translation” mode is active: a foreign language translation of the word comes out in a window, e.g. English-German translation.
- If „Strong number analysis” mode is active: Strong number analysis comes out to every word of the given verse on the dictionary panel.
How does bubble help mode work?
If „Bubble help” mode ( ) is active the content of the small popup window is determined by the following rules:
- If you click on the verse number: the program looks up and displays the commentary belonging to the given verse from the default commentary. If it does not find the verse number it displays the nearest, most probable verse commentary.
- If you click on the (superscript) footnote identifier: you will see the footnote belonging to the identifier.
- If you click on a word that a Strong number belongs to: you will see the Strong number, the Hebrew/Greek root and its meanings which are taken from the default Strong dictionary by the program.
- If you click on a word without a Strong number: the program looks up and displays the interpretation of the word from the default normal dictionary.
- If you click on the crossreferenc sign >> : the program displays the cross references belonging to the verse from the cross reference modules.
How to prepare bubble help for work?
Bubble help ( ) works with the default dictionaries which can be set in the program's settings (Settings/ Default dictionaries). You can set different dictionaries to Hebrew Strong numbers, to Greek Strong numbers, to word and commentary analysis.
Other modes of clicking:
- Double click means: start scrolling.
- By long click a context menu comes out with the options connected to the word.
Switch On/Off buttons:
In the default setting the Switch On/Off buttons are in the “Other” ( ) option of the toolbar. They can be used only if they can be applied to the choosen Bible translation. You can switch on/off the followings:
- Strong number ( ) (it can be used only if the chosen Bible translation contains Strong numbers)
- Cross references ( )
- Morphological tags ( ) (it can be used only if the chosen Bible translation contains morphological tags)
- Footnotes, Comments ( ) (it can be used only if the chosen Bible translation contains footnotes)
Some switches can be set from the menu displayed after long click.
How can more Bible translations be displayed next to each other?
Click on the name of the chosen Bible translation in the upper information bar of the Bible panel. Choose parallel view in the translation choice that comes out.
How can I get back to a verse previously looked up?
- You can see the list of verses previously looked up when you press “Verse history” ( ) in the top right menu.
- You can use “back” key on the keyboard to go back to verses looked up earlier.
- You can also get a list of previously versed verses by long-clicking on the current verse number in the upper information bar of the Bible panel.
How to copy a verse to clipboard, pasting into notes
- By a long click a context sensitive menu comes out which contains verse copy as well within copy options.
- You can copy a verse to clipboard by pressing “Verse copy” ( ) button in the lower toolbar of the Bible panel.
You can paste the content copied to clipboard to any text field after a right click. When making a note there is a 'paste button' ( ) for this, too.
Highlights
Highlight functions are available in the lower toolbar of the Bible panel at “Highlights” icon ( ) (in the default setting it is only available in “Other” option ( ) at the last icon.)
You can use the following types of highlights:
- Background highlight ( )
- Font color highlight ( )
- Bold highlight ( )
- Italic highlight ( )
- Underlined highlight ( )
You can highlight the text in the following modes in every highlight type:
- You can highlight the whole verse ( )
- By clicking on the text only the word under the click will be highlighted
- By clicking on the text the words between the second word and the previous word can be highlighted as well. ( )
Playing Audio Bible
You can play audio Bible in two ways:
- By a voice generator, usually in poor quality. You can use a better quality pay voice generator as well.
- You can import most of the audio Bibles in mp3 format, you can make them ready to be used by the program. You can play the imported mp3 Audio Bible versions in the program.
- 1.) Download the mp3 files. If the downloaded file is a zip file, you have to unzip it.
- 2.) Put the mp3 files into an optional directory on the phone's SD card.
- 3.) Enter the place of directory in the window when importing the audio Bible.
- 4.) Import the files.
How to set the background color of verse chooser
The setup icon of the verse choice window is at the upper left icon ( ) Here you can set not only the colors of verse choice but e.g. the number of columns displayed as well. You can list the name of the books in alphabetical order.
Font size enlargement, reduction
You can enlarge ( ) or reduce ( ) the font size. (In the default setting you can set it in the “Other” option ( ) at the last icon or holding your fingers ont he screen move them closer or further to each other to change the font size.)
Using English – Spanish (or e.g. English – German) translator for the English Bible
You can use the program as a traditional English – Spanish or Spanish – English (etc.) dictionary if you switch on the language translator mode ( ) .
How can I look up the original meaning of a word?
If there is a Strong number belonging to the word you have to switch on Bubble help. Then click on the given word and the original meaning of the word is immediately displayed in a small window.
What are the Strong numbers listed at the end of the verses?
The words belonging to the Strong numbers listed are in the original Bible but the numbers are not assigned to the words in the verse.
